Bikes at the Boardwalk

    Natasha from TN Asked

We are staying at AK in Oct 2021. I am hoping Trattoria will be open by then. Is there any transportation to take us to Boardwalk?

Hey there, Natasha. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! You are going to have a great time visiting Walt Disney World during the month of October, it's one of my favorite times. Hopefully, you are planning on spending a day at Magic Kingdom Park, I love how decked out for Halloween it is.

Trattoria al Forno restaurant, located at Disney's BoardWalk, is actually open and taking reservations now. Currently, they are serving breakfast and dinner. I took a look at the current menu offerings and it sure sounds delicious. However, if you are hoping to experience the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast at that location, which is the character meal with Prince Eric, Ariel, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, that is currently suspended. At this time, I don't have any information about when that may return.

If you are still interested in dining at Trattoria al Forno, you won't have directed transportation to the restaurant area but never fear, it's quite easy to get there. From Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, I suggest hopping on a bus designated for Disney's Hollywood Studios. Once there, you'll have two options. The first is a nice walk on a paved sidewalk to Disney's BoardWalk area. The walk takes about 10-15 minutes and is a little under a mile. The second option is to take the boat service from Disney's Hollywood Studios to Disney's BoardWalk Inn. The boat will stop at a few resorts along the way but you'll be there in no time. Either way, it won't take more than 20 minutes to get there from Disney's Hollywood Studios.

If character dining is what you are after during your vacation, you do have some options! It doesn't quite look the same but you can still dine with Mickey and the gang. Right now, modified character dining experiences are being offered at Garden Grill Restaurant, Hollywood & Vine, Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera and Chef Mickey's. While characters are not approaching tables right now, they are walking by waving and smiling. When I dined at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera not too long ago with some of my fellow planDisney panelists, we had a great time. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy came out one by one smiling, waving, dancing and posing (physically distanced of course) for pictures. It was nice to spend some time with old friends again!

I hope this helps get you on your way to a fabulous meal, Natasha. If you have any other questions before your trip, I'd love for you to come back and ask me. Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
