    We are staying in AK Lodge for a long weekend in Sept. 2012. Any suggestions for some "must do" activities at the resort? Girls are ages 6,8,11,12.

    Jambo Tracy! Earlier this summer my four kids had a blast when we stayed at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. I believe you could skip the parks and spend your whole vacation at this resort.

    Your girls can splash away at the Uwanja Camp, a fun water play area. Classic Disney movies are shown each night out under the stars. Another fun nighttime activity is animal viewing with night vision goggles or simply sitting outside enjoying the campfire. Animal programs abound at this hotel, so consider learning about flamingo feeding or participating in an animal enrichment program. These programs do change periodically so check your choices in the activities newsletter you will be given when you check in. Craft sessions are held each afternoon in the Community Hall if your daughters enjoy creating art. 

    Do take the time to take in the stunning multi-story lobby complete with a bridge and a spectacular savanna view. Roam around the grounds spotting giraffes, zebras, and antelope on the savanna. Try one of the excellent restaurants, Jiko-the Cooking Place or Boma, for an amazing African flared meal. One of our favorite activities here is a hidden Mickey scavenger hunt.
