Stayed at WL in 2/10. Now planning to return with DH & 2 DD - 11 & 6 in 3/11. Considering a moderate hotel this time. We loved WL and being close to MK but may choose to be more budget friendly. What would be best alternative to WL at moderate

    Jennifer:

I would whole-heartedly recommend you looking at Port Orleans as your next choice....until I saw that you were from Louisiana!

A few questions to ask yourself:
    1. How much time will I spend at the pool? March will be warm enough to swim. Although it is my favorite moderate resort, the pool at the Port Orleans: French Quarter is a little tired, in my opinion. Riverside's pool has a bridge and an "island" but takes a second seat to Caribbean Beach Resort's pirate-themed pool. With girls, however, it may not have as much appeal.
    2. Is a hotel's theme important to our experience? Granted, you could be from up around Shreveport where my cousins live, but the spanish moss, mansions and French Quarter buildings of Port Orleans may not whisk you away to another world.  CBR's brightly-colored buildings, not to mention its pirate-themed beds if you choose to upgrade to a Pirate room, can be more appealing and different for your family.
    3. Will we miss the ferry of Wilderness Lodge? If so, Port Oreans is a must. The boat to Downtown Disney sets this resort apart from the other moderates. And if transportation is of importance, consider the fact that French Quarter has only one bus stop.  On my trip last September, its bus only shared stops with Riverside during slow times of the day (afternoon) and to Animal Kingdom. CBR has multiple stops like Riverside.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
