I have never stayed in a value resort and want to make my son's first trip special. I was thinking of the contemporary or animal kingdom lodge, but since he is a huge cars fan now I'm thinking of the art of animation. Will that still be magic. Summer 2013

    Hi Norma,

A Cars themed room at The Art of Animation will absolutely be a magical place for you to stay for your son's first trip to Walt Disney World.  The value resorts are quite nice. The attention to detail and theming in this rooms is clever, and the larger than life structures that surround the resort are really fun!

For me, the biggest drawbacks to staying at a value resort are transportation, lack of table service dining venue and no slide at the pool.  I would consider renting a car if I were staying at a value resort.  Parking is free for resorts guests, and it just makes transportation easier.  You'll be able to schedule earlier character meals at resorts like the Contemporary and be able to get there with ease.  The pool in the Nemo area will have water play areas which should be fun!

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
