Since I have stayed at POR will staying off site at another holel be much cheaper and will I be disappointed in the atmosphere? Thanks

Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite moderate resort.  I love the wooded atmosphere and the quiet charm of the bayou theme.  I can understand why you hesitate to venture off property for your hotel accommodations.

My family is the kind that, once we drive underneath the arch that welcomes us to Walt Disney World, we hate to drive back through until we absolutely have to.  There is absolutely a magical feel to Walt Disney World as a whole, from the theme parks to the resort hotels.  Personally, it's not something I'd be willing to sacrifice during our family trips.

That said, I know of many families who stay off property either in rental homes, timeshares, or hotels.  They do so for the convenience of larger accommodations and/or the availability of a kitchen so that they can prepare their own meals.  If these are amenities that are important to you, perhaps staying off property would be worth a try.

Obviously you won't be treated to the pixie dust 24/7, so you'll just have to decide which is more important in making your vacation as unforgettable as can be.  Good luck with your decision!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
