We have stayed at the Grand Floridian the past four years, but have an upcoming trip and were considering the Wilderness Lodge. We had dinner there last year and thought it was lovely, but are concerned that it will not live up to our experience at GF.

Hi Venus!  You have been fortunate to indeed stay at Disney's signature resort, The Grand Floridian, for your past visits.  This is an elegant resort with all the amenities that can be offered on property.

The Wilderness Lodge is indeed beautiful in its own decor.  There is a sense of peacefulness in the lobby and the views of Bay Lake certainly give you a different perspective of the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom and the resorts surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon.  This resort will have a more rustic feel to the rooms versus the victorian elegance at the Grand. In my opinion the biggest change for you will be with the transportation.  Since it is not on the monorail system you will need to take Disney transportation to all other locations on property making it a bit more of a nuisance when trying to get to dining etc.

Our family was staying at the same location year after year and recently we decided to try as many different places as possible.  One of our new favorites is the cabins at Fort Wilderness as it is a completely different feel to all other resorts. We love the privacy and peacefulness of that location.  That surprised many since we had become accustomed to the Yacht and Beach concierge floors.  I think its good to try other resorts on different trips.  You will end up with favorites but each Disney resort has so much to offer on their own.
