In 2018 we stayed at DVC resorts, they mailed us our magic bands for each resorts we were staying. 1) Do we get the new magic bands+ with our reservation for free? 2)if they don’t include it anymore and we need to purchase should I delete the old ones?

Hi Lerma and welcome back to planDisney!

MagicBands are such a great way to add a little magic and ease to any Walt Disney World vacation.  I love the convenience of just tapping my wrist to enter the theme parks, make purchases, enter the Lightning Lane queues and open my Disney Resort hotel room door.  There is no need to dig around in my bag for various cards.  The bonus is there are so many cute designs to choose from!

MagicBands for Disney Resort hotel guests are no longer complimentary, but you can purchase them at a pre-arrival discount.  The inventory is always changing, but you will find many designs and styles to choose from including the new MagicBand+.  There is a beautiful blue and pink Stitch MagicBand+ that I picked out for myself for our last trip since my favorite movie is Lilo & Stitch.

To choose new MagicBands, head to your My Disney Experience account.  Your upcoming reservation will be right at the top with a section called "Unlock the Magic with MagicBands".  Click the link to make your selections and it will take you to the customization page.

There is no need to delete or deactivate your old MagicBands unless you want to.  Disney says the battery life on a MagicBand is about 2 years, so they probably won't work now anyway.  If you would like deactivate your old MagicBands, click on "MagicBands and Cards" under the "My Disney Experience" tab on the Walt Disney World website.  Choose a guest, click their name and then click "Deactivate" for each MagicBand.

I see you're coming in late December, which is a great time to visit!  It's just in time to ring in the new year and the holiday decorations will still be up!  You should be able to experience the last days of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which is such a great way to learn about holiday traditions around the world and get a taste around the world at the delicious Holiday Kitchens.  Our favorite thing to do is the Holiday Cookie Stroll where you purchase 5 unique holiday cookies around World Showcase while collecting stamps in your Festival Passport to turn in for a beautiful completer cookie at the end.  My kids have such a fun time doing this and we love the cookies!

Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
