We have stayed @ AKL, WL, CR and Poly (favorite). Despite the current economy, our annual WDW trip is important enough that we found a way to go in 2009. We decided on POFQ 1st wk May) what can we expect other than what the travel guides and web sites say?

    Shannon:

Many families, like yours, are looking at their budgets this year, and think you'll agree that there is a place at Disney for lots of different budgets!

In my opinion, I think you've made a great choice with Port Orleans: French Quarter--especially since you are used to staying at the Deluxe resorts!  The theme at Port Orleans takes you right to the heart of New Orleans--and the landscaping is on par with those you'd find at the Deluxes.  In addition, the pool has a fun, Mardi Gras themed slide and this is the only Moderate hotel with boat transportation to Downtown Disney.  It is not spread out like other Moderates or Value resorts, and this makes it feel more like a boutique hotel.

The biggest differences you'll see are 1) the outside entrances to the rooms 2) about 30 square feet of space in comparison to Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge--which is primarily in the bathroom/closet area and 3) the lack of a signature restaurant.  However, the abundance of restaurants that are within a fun boat ride at Downtown Disney will make you forget the latter!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
