Hi Mary,
I understand your dilemma! Every time that we go to WDW, I have a difficult time choosing our resort. I just love so many of them!
If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Grand Floridian (we honeymooned there!). For anyone traveling with young children and/or appreciating the finer things, this is WDW's flagship resort!
With young kids, you'll likely spend a good amount of time in the Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom is only a monorail (or boat) ride away from the entrance.
It has a nice Beach Pool with a zero entry wading zone plus a slide. The courtyard (quiet) pool is beautiful and shimmers at night!
There's room service or you could consider staying on the Club Level so that you'd have access to the lounge with some food and treats throughout the day.
There are nice restaurants, a beautiful marina, and a sandy beach.
The
Grand Floridian is victorian elegance.
My second choice to be close to the Magic Kingdom would be the
Polynesian Resort (in fact we're staying there in a few weeks!) It's got a great volcano pool with zero entry and a slide, quiet pool, a fun tropical theme and good restaurants. The Polynesian is also only a monorail or boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. You'll find room service at this resort as well as the option to upgrade to Club Level.
I would look at pictures of both resorts and see if one of them fits your dreams!
Best wishes for a magical vacation.
