Hi Frances, welcome home and welcome back to planDisney! I love to
laissez les bon temps rouler with a visit to
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and snacking on some Mickey-shaped beignets from
Scat Cat’s Club. Now let’s get you an answer to your question so you don’t have to play by it ear on your next trip!
Yes, you can use your Vacation Points to stay at Port Orleans Resort (both French Quarter and
Riverside). In fact, you can use your Vacation Points at any Resort hotel at Walt Disney World, so long as there’s availability. In order to do so, you would have to exchange your Vacation Points for a stay in the
Disney Collection. Currently, DVC only has point charts for
2026 and
January 2027 for Port Orleans, so you’ll want to check back on the
DVC website for updated point charts.
Here’s a couple reminders for exchanges in the Disney Collection. First, only DVC members
eligible for Membership Extras can do such exchanges. Next, there’s typically a transaction fee associated with these types of exchanges. Finally, the
Rule of Four applies to Disney Collection exchanges, meaning that bookings within your current Use Year must be made prior to the last four months of your Use Year.
Frances, here’s a bonus tip! If you plan to have multiple trips to Walt Disney World, you may want to look into
Membership Magic Beyond. This optional program comes with many benefits, such as priority access to the Member lounges, specially priced theme park tickets, and a 30-day memory maker entitlement. But best of all, this program also waives the transaction fee for Vacation Point exchanges!
I hope this information is helpful for you as you plan your next trip to Walt Disney World. If you have any other questions about your DVC membership, feel free to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
