we want to stay at the hotel disney uses the day before our disney cruise is to set sail. what is this hotel and do they take us to the cruise ship on the day we sail? what is weather like in feb. 2012? thank you.

    Hi, Carol!

You are smart to travel the day before your Disney cruise sets sail -- especially in the winter and coming from the North. Some cruise guests prefer to take the complimentary Disney's Magical Express to a Walt Disney World (WDW) Resort, and some like to stay right there at the Hyatt Regency inside the Orlando International Airport (MCO).  Regardless, you will need to make prior ground transportation arrangements with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) -- either at or by calling (800) 951-3532. The cost is about $70 per person round trip to and from Port Canaveral, MCO and/or WDW.

In addition, you can choose a hotel near Port Canaveral which offers free shuttle service to the cruise terminal. I recommend the Radisson Resort at the Port or Country Inn & Suites Cape Canaveral.  There are several  which offer varying amenities, but these are the ones I know which provide free transportation to and from the port. Of course, you'll need to make arrangements for your ground transportation from MCO to your Port Canaveral hotel.

In February, Central Florida is unpredictable -- I've been there that time of year and was freezing in a jacket and long pants.  Yet, I've also burned up in shorts and tee shirt in February, too. In the Bahamas, you can anticipate the temperatures a little warmer than at the port, a little more windy and rain likely at any point. Therefore, I encourage you to keep track of the weather in Nassau and at Port Canaveral on line, and pack your swimsuit and shorts. Yet, also throw a windbreaker jacket, some long pants and an umbrella or rain poncho in your suitcase...just in case.

I hope that helps you plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
