How many of you stay at the same Disney resort year after year, and does this lessen the magic in any way because of the familiarity?

I think we all vacation differently at Walt Disney World. There are a few panelists who tend to book the same resort each trip and others that enjoy trying out different resorts.

Our family has our favorite resorts but we enjoy staying at a different resort each trip. There are some resorts that we tend to return to more often. Also we book our vacation depending on that year's budget as well. Some years we stick with moderates and other years it's all about going deluxe. I think the moderate resorts are a tremendous value. The year we went on a Disney Cruise we booked a value resort prior to our cruise and a moderate resort for the post-cruise portion of our trip.

For me, I like the vacation to seem "different" so I try not to book back to back trips at the same hotel. Other families cherish the familiarity. They enjoy knowing just what to expect, where to eat, what the room will look like and how to get around the resort. My son says that I'm an "explorer". I really like exploring a new place.

For our upcoming June trip we have compromised. We will first check in to a resort that is familiar (Grand Floridian) and then for the last 4 nights we will be staying at a resort that is new to us (Saratoga Springs). It's hard to say if I'm more excited about the familiar resort or the new one!

Consider how you like to vacation at other places. Do you go to the same beach every year? Or do you go to the same beach but stay at a different hotel? I found it easier to go to the familiar places when our son was younger!

For our January 2009 trip, I think we've compromised again. We'll be staying at the Yacht Club which shares amenities with the Beach Club (which is more familiar to us). I would consider your traveling party (young kids, grandparents, special needs) and then make the choice that best fits the type of vacation that you are dreaming about!
