Do I have to stay in a Disney resort hotel to use memory maker? I've purchased it but I've heard you need a magic band to use it to get character/ride photos and we don't have magic bands as we are staying in Downtown disney. Is it same as photo pass?

Hi Claire! Thanks for stopping by to see us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Let's help you capture all those magical moments of your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

My family has used Disney's Memory Maker a couple of times now, and we've found it to be lots of fun and so convenient. We always have so many PhotoPass photos to choose from, and with Memory Maker we don't have to choose which ones we want to order - we already own all of them. It's been especially handy when our son meets his favorite characters. The photographers start snapping from that first hug, and it's so nice to have all those sweet candid shots in addition to the more traditional posed photos.

The great news about Memory Maker is that anyone can use it. You don't have to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, and you don't need a MagicBand. Just link your Theme Park tickets to your My Disney Experience account, and your park admission cards will work exactly like a MagicBand. After the PhotoPass photographer has taken those special shots, have her scan your card and the pictures will magically appear in your account. Just like that!

I hope this helps you have a picture-perfect Walt Disney World vacation, Claire. Be sure to come see us again if we can answer any more questions.

    Have a magical day!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
