Jambo, Stephanie! I am glad you ran by with another question about visiting Walt Disney World Resort during a
runDisney weekend.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is an ideal location to be close to the races and still have that "world away" feeling. It's a
paws-atively perfect choice!
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend has several events, including a 5K on November 1, a 10K on November 2 and a half marathon on November 3. The weekend is capped off with a
Post-Race Party at EPCOT on November 3 at 10 p.m.
The races begin so early in the morning that you should not expect a traffic delay with the 5K or 10K. Typically, these two races are limited to the EPCOT area. The road closures usually remain until 7 or 7:30 a.m. Depending on where you are headed, you may experience delays on Sunday with the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. The traffic routes may include road closures until 9 or 9:30 a.m. In previous years, this race has centered around EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
When the digital guide is released, you will be able to see the race routes and transportation information. The Cast Members at Animal Kingdom Lodge may also have information available at the Front Desk.
If you are worried about traffic, I would probably consider going to
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park on Sunday. I don't think you need to plan any other theme park days around runDisney races.
One other thing to note is
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has its most spirited night on Halloween, October 31.
Magic Kingdom Park will close to Guests not attending the party at 6 p.m. If your tickets do not have the Park Hopper option, you may wish to visit a theme park that is open later.
You can check the
calendar for theme park hours if you want to see what opens earliest and stays open latest. The calendar will also show if any theme park will be open for
Extended Evening Hours, which could also play into your planning. It is updated regularly and usually shows about 60 days ahead.
I hope you have a wonderful trip to the most magical place to race!
Every Mile is Magic!
