Going to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge in December, it's our first time with a 6 yr old. We did not get the park hopper option. I'm not sure if we should get a car rental or use the Disney transportation. Help please!

    Hi Maria!

I think using a car of your own will save a you some time, but overall, you should be fine with using Disney transportation, especially if you are not park hopping. My only (slight) reservation about this, is if you plan to dine at other resorts. Sometimes, this can be especially time consuming (over an hour of transit time since you'll likely have to make stops and transfer mid way). Generally, there isn't resort to resort transportation. If you think you'll need to go from resort to resort often, and this may hinder your play time in the parks or otherwise, then a rental may be a good option for you. I often drive and therefor have my own car to use, but there have been a couple of vacations where I simply parked my car at the resort, and then didn't see it again until check out day. As a guide, getting to the parks from the resort takes about 15-25 minutes of drive time, plus any time you might wait for the next bus to arrive to pick you up and any additional stops that the driver may have. Hope this helps you decide if a rental is a good choice for you. Have a magical vacation!
