Going to stay at AKL 12/1-12/7, I've been hearing about pop warner? what is that? should i be worried about crowds?

Hi, Ellen! Pop Warner is the nation's largest and oldest youth football and cheerleading organization which holds its Super Bowl at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at WDW usually the first week in December every year. For 2010, the Pop Warner Super Bowl is scheduled for December 3-11.

The teams -- hailing from all over the United States and even other countries -- will travel together in groups and usually stay in the Value and Moderate WDW Resorts such as the All-Stars, Pop Century or Caribbean Beach Resorts. In addition, many of them will stay off property. (It will be an affluent or well-supported team if they're staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!) In between or after competitions, I'm sure that the groups will plan visits to the parks -- yet they are staggered. They typically do not make a significant impact on the usually low crowd levels experienced during that week. (I was at WDW during the Pop Warner Super Bowl last year.)

I hope that helps to alleviate any concerns you may have. Now, that you know...you may want to stop a youth football team or cheerleading squad in the parks and ask them how the competition is going! Have a wonderful day and a most magical vacation!
