What is the status of Magic Kingdom and the other parks, and the attractions, regarding tropical depression Fred?

Hello from soon-to-be-soggy Florida, Duane! Welcome to planDisney!

It's a great idea to keep a weather eye out before your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. Summer storms are a normal part of life here, but every now and then, Mother Nature dishes up something more severe. As of this moment, Disney hasn't announced any changes or closures in the theme parks, so it looks like your vacation shouldn't be disrupted. Our local meteorologists have been telling us this is likely to be mostly a rain event, so I'd definitely prepare for that.

Of course, you'll want to keep up with the latest forecast in case the storm track or intensity shifts. I recommend taking a look at the websites of some TV stations in the Orlando area for updates, and even choosing one or two to follow on social media before your trip. They'll be watching the storm very closely and will give you the best idea of exactly what to expect. You can also check the Disney Parks Blog for any news on how the storm may be impacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Plus, if you haven't already, be sure to download the My Disney Experience mobile app to your phone. It's an invaluable resource on a rainy day in the theme parks because it will let you know if any outdoor attractions have experienced temporary closures.

You'll find more information about the Walt Disney World Resort's general hurricane policy on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Duane, I'm hoping the skies clear and the sun shines for your vacation next week! Have a magical vacation, and please come see us again if you have any more questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
