We are starting our trip at a deluxe resort, however have to switch to a moderate on Wednesday due to limited availability for deluxe resorts. Are we still able to take advantage of the extended evening hours that Wednesday evening, after checking out?

    Hi Kelly, welcome to planDisney!

I'm glad to hear you've decided to immerse yourself in the magic during your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation by staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. All Disney Resort hotels offer dazzling Disney details, complimentary transportation to and from the parks and Disney Springs, and 30-minute early theme park entry at all four parks each day.

Extended evening theme park hours are an extra magical perk available on select nights at select parks to Guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Deluxe Villa Resort. This pixie-dusted entitlement is tied to your resort reservation, which is typically valid from the day of check-in through the day of check-out. The extended evening hours calendar does not yet go to June, so I encourage you to check back as more dates are added. If Magic Kingdom's extended hours are scheduled that Tuesday, you'll have no problem accessing the magic of this exclusive event. If Magic Kingdom's extended hours are scheduled that Wednesday, I recommend checking with a Cast Member at the front desk of your Deluxe Resort to see if they anticipate any challenges due to the presence of an additional resort reservation tied to your My Disney Experience account. You'll also want to make sure you have a valid admission and park reservation for each park day.

I've had the pleasure of experiencing both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT during extended evening hours, and it was quite a treat. Fewer crowds meant less time waiting in line and more time doing. You have to tap in with a Cast Member to experience each attraction, which is why you want to make sure your mode of entry (MagicBand, admission card, and/or MagicMobile pass) is communicating the right information. You'll also need to think through transportation. Buses will not be running to moderate hotels by the time extended hours are over so you may need to consider a rideshare service.

I hope your split stay delivers double the fun and double the magic. Please stop by planDisney with any other trip-planning questions before, during, or after your stay.

    Choose magic,
    Jennifer
