Hiya Debbie, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so excited to hear you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World - let the magic begin!
I absolutely understand your concerns about your privacy and security when using a
MagicBand. I encourage you to read
Disney's disclosures on the care they take with the data they collect, and if you have any questions that aren't addressed on the website, please contact Guest Relations at (407) 939-5277. You're also welcome to share concerns you have so they may improve the Guest experience.
Debbie, to deactivate your MagicBand when it's at home with you, log in to
My Disney Experience and select "MagicBands and Cards." From there, you'll see a list of all MagicBands associated with your account (as well as any accounts you manage) and you'll be able to click "Active" beside a band and change its status to "Inactive." You can then reactivate it right before your visit, or see a Cast Member at your resort or Guest Relations to activate the MagicBand.
One of the
benefits of being a Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guest is that you'll receive complimentary MagicBands as part of your resort reservation, so you'll be able to choose and customize a new MagicBand for your 2020 visit if you so choose.
I keep several MagicBands active when I'm at home because I like to bring a couple of color options with me to match with my outfits and I know I would forget to reactivate when packing. Also, my son is notorious for losing his, so it's nice to bring a backup.
I hope this has been helpful, Debbie. Have so much fun doing your planning and Disney dreaming!
Now, more than ever, it's a fabulous time to visit Walt Disney World Resort, with so many new experiences debuting around the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs, and I can't wait to see what 2020 has in store for us. Be sure to read the
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news, and please let us know if we can help make your story come alive as you plan your 2020 vacation.
Wishing you so much magic,
Robyn
