Hi, I am starting to plan my September vacation with my husband, kids (son is 2 and daughter is 4), and my parents. We want to take advantage of the military 4-day pass, but we are not sure which days to go and which hotel to stay in. Any recommendations”
Hi there, Jennifer!
Thanks to those in your traveling party who have served the country; it is daily appreciated.
With children as young as yours, it's likely that they will want to spend loads of time with Mickey Mouse at the Magic Kingdom; this is Park most geared towards younger children. While all of the Parks have appeal to all ages, to be certain, the Magic Kingdom features the most rides, parades, and nighttime events.
Without knowing your anticipated travel season or budget, I'll throw a couple of options out; if you'd like, feel free to drop me another line with those specifics and I'll be able to construct a richer itinerary for you and yours.
That said, attendance at Walt Disney World will, after Presidents' Day weekend, start to ramp up with Spring Break, Easter Week, and then summer vacation season. If it's possible for you to go in January or February, I'd recommend that. Alternately, you might consider delaying your vacation until mid-September, when crowd levels tend to decrease again through the first week of November. Weekdays, in any case, are always preferable to weekends.
As for hotels? You'll first want to break them down by class: Value, Moderate, or Deluxe. While each Resort features theming and amenities, as you might expect, the level of each rises in accordance with the cost per night. Every Resort offers a great pool, dining, and so on; again, please feel free to send me a note with a little more information about your traveling party, and I'll be glad to narrow down your choices. But your first place to start is with your vacation budget (I find that usually dictates the terms of my stays!).
I'm here to help you plan further; don't hesitate to drop me a line and we'll go from there.
See you later, celebrator,
-Deborah B.
