We are starting to plan our first Disney World trip for October 2012. What is the best week in October that you would recommend staying? We are flexible and will be traveling with a 7 yr old girl and 5 yr old boy. Thanks!!

    Hi Traci!

Every week in October is fine in terms of weather and crowds, though Walt Disney World does get crowded on select nights as you get closer to Halloween.  Halloween itself is very crowded at Walt Disney World, especially at the Magic Kingdom.

If you go in October, be sure to consider going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  It's my favorite hard ticketed event (meaning you need a special ticket) in the Magic Kingdom.  Trick or treating in costume is a lot of fun for children.  Also, there's a spectacular parade and the absolute best fireworks show.  The party is only held on select nights in September and October, so put that into your planning.

Another special event that takes place in October is Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival.  It's a great opportunity to try new foods from around the world.  The festival is included in your admission to Epcot.  Just avoid Epcot on the weekends as Epcot is typically crowded during the festival  with local Floridians.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
