We are just now starting to plan our first Disney trip with our kids! It's a short notice trip and will be booking for the end of April, 2016. How quickly do the dining with characters book up? Hoping we're not booking too late.

Welcome Erin! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Glad to know you are planning an unforgettable Disney vacation for your family. Character Dining Experiences are amazing and they tend to book up quickly as soon as the reservation window opens, for the most popular restaurants. Advanced Dining Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made up to 180 days prior to your visit.
There are many restaurant options for your family, at Disney Theme Parks and Disney Resort Hotels. I am sure you will be able to get a reservation for a very nice restaurant. If you can’t find availability online, I encourage you to call WDW. Cast Members can assist you by giving you alternative options for the dates you want.
Hope this helps your planning. Come back to visit us again if you have further questions.
    Have a magical day!
