We are starting to plan our first Disney trip this June with our kiddos, who will be 9, 7 and 4. Which hotel do you book for a large family? The thought of 1 hotel room for a week with 5 people is a bit frightening. Would love to be able to spread out!

Hi Rebecca, What an exciting time it will be planning your first Walt Disney Resort vacation. The memories that you will make will last forever.  So, let's get started!

You have several options. The recently opened Art of Animation Resort is a value resort and offers family suites. I had the opportunity to tour this resort on my last two trips.  Each family suite has a bedroom with a queen size bed. Then, there in the main seating area (separated from the bedroom by a door) has a murphy-style double bed that can be put away during the day, and the couch can pull out into another double bed. I was quite surprised with the amount of space these suites offered. Each room has 2 bathrooms for added convenience.  The family suites are offered in the Lion King, Finding Nemo and Cars themes. You can request a theme, but please know that it is not a guarantee and is based on availability.

Another option would be staying in a deluxe resort such as the Beach Club Resort where you can get a room with 2 queen beds and a daybed (couch).  However, these rooms have the beds all in one room and there is only 1 bathroom. The actual room is larger than at a moderate resort or a standard room in a value resort. There are more amenities at the deluxe resorts such as in-room safes, small refrigerators, and coffee makers (although the family suites in Art of Animation do have these).

Both of these resorts also offer Movies Under the Stars where you can watch Disney films on designated evenings right down at the pool at no extra charge!

The biggest factor you will find in your decision making is your budget.  However, I would highly recommend either option.  Once you have decided and set your dates, please stop by and ask me more questions.
