Ahoy there, Krystal. Welcome to planDisney.
I’m delighted to see you’re planning your family’s first Disney cruise!
Disney Cruise Line caters to the entire family, for the young and the young-at-heart. However, Disney Cruise Line strictly enforces age specific activities, such as adult exclusive dining and youth clubs. Although Marvel Super Hero Academy and
Star Wars: Command Post are located in the
Oceaneer Club which is exclusive to younglings between the ages of 3 and 10, your son can still enjoy these experiences during Open House. This is when anyone can drop in during this time to check out all the fun activities in store. On our recent sailing on the Disney Fantasy, my two children (who are now young adults) wanted to check out Andy’s Room and
Star Wars: Command Post during Open House and relive their childhood; it was nostalgic and I had fun just watching them play! Be sure to check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for specific dates and times of Open House during your sailing.
I don’t think your son will “miss out” by aging out of Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. Perhaps he can view it as “graduating” to the
Edge and being able to hang out in an inviting lounge exclusive for tweens 11 and 14 years of age. On select evening, Edge may even have scheduled times in the evenings when the Oceaneer Lab is open exclusively for tweens to enjoy (activities are subject to change so please check the App for information).
As you continue to plan your upcoming cruise, please feel free to stop by
planDisney again if you have more questions. It can be overwhelming and we’re here to help you plan an unforgettable Disney vacation.
Hope to SEA ya real soon,
Kiki
