Nicole,
First and foremost thank you to your husband for his service and your family for your sacrifice. I am truly grateful for what you are doing for our country.
Have you looked into the
Shades of Green resort? It is an Armed Forces Recreation Center that offers affordable rates (based on pay grade) for military personnel. The rooms there are quite spacious and sleep 5.
If you'd like a 'regular' Disney resort, you have three categories of accommodations to choose from so I'll give you my favorites in each category.
Value - Pop Century. I like the fact that this resort is the newest of the values, it has a dedicated bus system, and they have frozen cokes in their food court. (It's a little thing that means so much)
Moderate - Caribbean Beach. This has always been my favorite moderate resort, but the recent refurbishment made it even more lovely. Rooms are all now either Finding Nemo or Pirate themed (the pirate rooms are SO cool!) and the pool is amazing, with a zero-entry area, two waterslides, and a very cool pirate ship play area for kids.
Deluxe - Wilderness Lodge. This is the hardest category to choose from as they are all fantastic resorts, but I love the themeing of this resort and I think it offers really great bang for your buck as far as pricing and location go. You can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach, and the park is a short boat ride away.
Good luck with your planning, and my very best wishes for a safe and happy family reunion.
