We are just starting to plan our family trip to WDW this January 2013! We are going to be a large group - 10 adults and 4 kids (5,2 and 5 months). Will the specialty dinners & character meals be able to accommodate just a large group at one table?

Hi Courtney!  I was always in charge of my family reunions which consisted of 16 persons.  I honestly suggest you not worry about sitting at one table as we found two to three tables made it easier to talk to more people.  When you are at one long table you will never have a conversation with anyone beyond those sitting next to you or across from you. When sitting at large round tables of 6-8 you will have conversations with all.

We did a nice little trick for seating as well.  I kept name tags for everyone and when we arrived at the restaurant I asked what the seating was going to be....two or three tables etc.  I then had someone pick 8 nametags from a hat and those are the family members who would sit together for that meal at one table and then the rest would be at the other table. Knowing you have an infant in the mix that child would automatically sit with a parent but even the two year old might find it fun to break away and sit with aunts, uncles, or cousins. It was tons of fun and each meal brought someone new to the mix and everyone was happy since it was random!

If you aren't seated at one table for the specialty meals and character events you will be next to each other and again some of the better photos are taken when you aren't sitting right on top of the action. It allows you to have better angles without sitting interrupting another table.  You can always get the kids together for photos if that is your choice too.  Enjoy a great family trip!
