Starting to help my family plan a big multi-generational trip for July or August of 2021. Small kids, senior citizens, and everyone in between. We would love to stay on the monorail. What do you think between Grand Floridian or the Poly? We love pools!

Hello, Megan! Thanks for coming back to see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Megan, I love this stage of planning where every possibility is open to you. It often takes me a bit of time to select a Disney Resort Hotel since there are so many amazing options... but then I remember that Cinderella's Fairy Godmother said, "even miracles take a little time." That's when I relax and enjoy the process.

Megan, I can promise you that deciding between Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is very much like choosing a vanilla or a chocolate cupcake. While different, both options are sweet and delicious. Since both resorts utilize the Monorail transportation and both resorts are close to Magic Kingdom Park, my personal belief is that both are equally convenient. I also believe that both are suitable for multi-generational travel, so your choice may come down to personal preference.

I can tell you that my husband would choose Disney's Polynesian Village Resort every time because he loves the Tiki-vibe and relaxed atmosphere of the grounds. However, my friend and fellow Panelist, Aena loves the elegance and grandeur of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and would always pick this resort.

Megan, my recommendation would be to think about each member of your multi-generational traveling party and how they would react to the decor and theming of each property. If you have any budding Royals who would enjoy an afternoon high tea or pausing to enjoy a live orchestra, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is "practically perfect in every way." If you have a family of island-lovers who consider the DOLE Whip a separate food group, I would book your stay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

Finally, since you mention that your family loves a cool dip in the pool, you will find that both resorts have pools with great slides that are a ton of fun for your whole crew. I personally love the Lava Pool with its rising volcano, but again, my heart, like Moana's, lies in the islands.

Megan, I hope this helps as you are thinking about your options and deciding where to book your next stay. Wishing you a vacation full of Magical moments.

Please come back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you might have,
