i have started to think of running and i was thinking a disney run would be a great way to get me started. what do they have that is special or different then just a normal run. i was wondering what would be the best one to start with. thanks for your help

    Hi Mark!

I think it's great that you are considering starting to run.  I didn't run my first race until I was in my 30's, and I never, in my wildest dreams, thought I would run a marathon!

I can honestly tell you that runDisney races are the perfect races for new runners.  The atmosphere is very fun and exciting.  There are a lot of beginning runners at all the races, and everyone is so supportive.  Plus, all of the Disney "magic" along the course helps keep you motivated!

I signed up for the 2009 Princess Half Marathon thinking it would be my first AND last distance race.  I wanted to run through Cinderella Castle at least once!  Instead, it was an amazing experience that gave me a new love for the sport.

You may want to start with one of the 5K races that runDisney offers during race weekends.  This is a great way to get a taste of runDisney, but with a shorter distance.  You can find the schedule and other information on the runDisney website.

Please let me know if you have any other questions as you get ready for your first race!  Good luck and keep at it!
