Hello, Just started looking into DVC. Our favorite resort is the Disney Campground. Can you use the campground as a home resort? Do you have to choose a home resort? Thank you for your help.

    Hi Melissa,

I am so excited for you that you have started to consider becoming a member of Disney Vacation Club! As frequent visitors to Walt Disney World, becoming members of Disney Vacation Club was a great decision for my family.

You do need to chose a home resort when you join Disney Vacation Club. Your home resort must be a Disney Vacation Club resort. At Walt Disney World, these are Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village and Jambo House, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. While you can book reservations at other Disney Vacation Club resorts than you home resort, you can book up to 11 months ahead of your check-in date at your home resort and seven months ahead of your check-in date for other Disney Vacation Club resorts. This means that you can book a stay at your home resort earlier than at the other resorts, so it is smart to choose the resort that you think you will want to spend the most time at as your home resort.

I, too, have a soft spot for Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. While this resort is not a Disney Vacation Club resort, it is part of the Disney Collection with Disney Vacation Club, which means that you can trade your Vacation Points in for Reservation Points and use these to book either the cabins or campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

I suggest that you call 877-382-7826 to speak with a Disney Vacation Club Vacation Guide who can help to guide you through the process of becoming a Disney Vacation Club member and answer questions that you have specific to your needs in regard to Disney Vacation Club.

I hope that this information was helpful to you, Melissa!  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
