Greetings, and welcome to
planDisney, Meghan, we thank you for consulting us today!
How very excited you must be about your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort, especially during the
50th Anniversary Celebration!
Meghan, as a mother of an adult autistic son who experiences seizures, I feel I can relate to your situation and it would be my honor to assist you further with how we manage our son’s visits to Walt Disney World Resort by referring to the many, thoughtfully created
Services for Guests with Disabilities paying particular attention to
Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS).
Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS) enables the registered Guest the flexibility to wait at a nearby location, rest, or grab a bite to eat while waiting for their DAS Return Time instead of waiting in the traditional queue. This may be an accommodation you can consider probing further, Meghan.
There are two ways to register for the DAS accommodation – the
DAS Advance virtual chat online, anywhere from 2 days to 30 days before your arrival, or you can
register in person once inside any Walt Disney World Resort theme park at a Guest Relations Lobby.
To prepare for the DAS registration both in advance or in person, please ensure that you create a
Family & Friends list to include those in your travel party who will then be on your DAS Guestlist, and please secure a
Disney Park Pass – Theme Park Reservation for all in your travel party for each day of valid theme park admission.
Once registered for the DAS accommodation, you (the registered DAS Guest), or anyone on your DAS Guestlist may self-select a DAS Return Time from the attraction list on the
My Disney Experience Mobile App but the registered DAS Guest must be present when redeeming the DAS Return Time and an experience entrance.
Tips:Please contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com for further assistance.
Meghan, you are welcome to bring your physician’s letter along, but please know that it is not required at this time – I always bring a letter of support just in case, and it always gives me that extra peace of mind to be prepared.
Look for the widely-available Cast Members throughout the theme parks in case you begin to feel unwell, and feel free to visit any of the
First Aid stations inside all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks for any assistance or for a brief bit of respite.
You may also wish to consider purchasing the
Disney Genie+ service via the
My Disney Experience Mobile App to save time waiting in lines for attractions that offer the Lightning Lane entrance.
Meghan, don't forget to hydrate, wear a hat and your protective sunscreen - best of all, have the most fun!
Jacqueline
