We want to start our trip off with a bang (first time, 5 and 8 yr old), but i am not sure if we should do MK on the first day of arrival since it will be a shorter day. We were thinking of AK that day. Will that be a dissappointment?

    Hi Barbara!

I think that your plan sounds absolutely perfect!  While we traditionally like to kick off our visit at the Magic Kingdom, you will need a FULL day to enjoy it.  Animal Kingdom never takes us as long to explore and I think that it will be the ideal park for your shorter day.  Never in a million years will your kiddos be disappointed in this park - it is jam packed with magic and excitement!

As the Animal Kingdom park typically closes a little earlier than the other parks, I can think of no better way to spend your first night, than at Downtown Disney.  There is no charge to enter and TONS of great restaurants and shops can be found here.  Since it seems animals will be the theme or the day, I think that both of your kids will absolutely adore either The Rainforest Cafe of the T-Rex cafe.  Both feature audio animatronic animals, a festive atmosphere and great food!

When it is time to call it a day, be sure to get plenty of sleep.....your entire vacation awaits!

    Much pixie dust,
