Where do I start? We are taking our 8 y/o daughter in October? We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a 5 day hopper, Genie+. Where is the best place to figure out all of the rules & the in's and outs.

    Hiya Jennifer! Welcome to planDisney!

You've certainly come to the right place for any and all details regarding what is sure to be a very magical vacation! Now is the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World Resort because it is currently celebrating its 50th Anniversary! With new treats to enjoy, merchandise to commemorate your trip, and new shows and attractions you just HAVE to see to believe, you honestly couldn't have picked a better time to visit.  During October, special events like the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and Disney After Hours Boo Bash are usually ongoing, meaning you'll have even more reasons to stay and play.

To me, it seems like so far you have everything under control! My family and I love Park Hopping, and five days is often enough time to experience everything we really want to do.  To be honest, no amount of days is ever enough for me, but that's just a good excuse to plan another trip! Having five days to explore will allow you to spend at least one day in each of the four Theme Parks, and hopping gives you and your family the flexibility to return to any Park you wish you had more time at!  We love to get up with the sun and "rope drop"(arrive for opening) at one Park, head back to the Resort for a midday nap and swim to recharge, and then stay out late to catch the nighttime spectacular at another Park.  Nothing beats watching your 8-year-old enjoy a Mickey Premium Ice Cream bar in the glow of Disney fireworks!

Staying in any Disney Resorts Collection hotel ensures you're close to the Parks and constantly surrounded by the magic. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is the Resort I last stayed at and it was absolutely breathtaking! From the Savanna views to the delicious restaurants like Boma-Flavors of Africa, the theming of the Resort is so immersive you will really feel like you've traveled far away on safari!

When you arrive at any of the four Theme Parks, you'll scan in with your MagicBand or Disney MagicMobile Service. With MagicMobile Service, you'll be able to use compatible phones to access your tickets and the Parks! Once inside, you'll instantly experience the pixie-dusted feeling that is hard to explain as your make your way to each Park's Beacon of Magic.  Having Disney Genie+ Service will be so helpful as you make your way around each Park. With this Service, you and your family will be able to choose return times for attractions and shows so that you can come back to them later instead of waiting in line! This will free up time to check out other attractions, grab a DOLE whip, or enjoy a parade like the Festival of Fantasy Parade

Please feel free to come back to planDisney with any specific questions as you continue your planning. We would love to help!

As a child I excitedly helped to plan family trips, as a young adult I planned our "happily ever after" right on Disney property, and now I'm lucky enough to plan magical vacations for my three incredible children. When we're not taking in the enchanting experiences of the parks, we're home in Massachusetts, probably planning our next trip! Learn More About Ashley
