I want to start planning our January 2023 Disney World vacation. I thought historically you could book resorts 499 days in advance, but I am not given the ability to select January 2023 dates yet. When will this be available?

    Howdy Brooks!

Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for moseying on by with your question. You've got a friend in me! My fellow panelists and I just love to start planning our Walt Disney World vacations as soon as possible, so I understand being excited to get your trip officially on the books.

Currently, room-only reservations and vacation packages are available through the end of 2022. We're still waiting on bookings to open for 2023 and beyond, so I recommend checking the website from time to time or contacting an authorized Disney travel planner who can do the work for you. Vacation packages tend to be released in the spring or summer for the following year, so I would start checking more frequently in a few months. Fortunately, you'll be visiting while Walt Disney World's 18-month long, 50th-anniversary celebration is still going on, so you'll experience all of the EARidescent excitement!

While you wait for your magical vacation, I'd be happy to suggest a few things my family and I do to help the time pass in between Disney adventures. If you're a Disney+ subscriber, check out the new, "Celebrate 50 Years of Disney World" section, which offers Disney Parks content like Imagineering Story and Behind the Attraction. Both are fun and interesting for all ages, but my little ones prefer the shorter Behind the Attraction episodes.

Also, be sure to follow the Disney Parks Blog and find us on social media to keep up with new attractions, restaurants, and resort offerings that will be available during your trip. Finally, check out some of our Panel Extras for more ideas about getting the whole family involved in the planning process and fun ways to count down to your vacation.

I hope this is helpful, Brooks. I wish I had more exact information for you, but for now, I'm going to recommend that you continue to check the Walt Disney World website and Disney Parks Blog for updates. If there's anything else we can do as your trip starts to come together, don't hesitate to reach out again.

Meet the Panelist: Betsy, Maryland

Greetings! I'm Betsy, a middle school teacher, wife, and mom of two. My family and I love to travel the world, but our best memories are those made when we're visiting Walt Disney World. No matter how many times we visit, there is always something new to see, ride, or eat at the Disney Parks. Learn More About Betsy
