Hi i would like to start planning our Disney trip we will not be coming till the week of June 1st 2023 since it will be my sisters 50th birthday and my granddaughters 8th birthday can i start planning and paying now we have a huge family that will be going

    Hi Tricia! Welcome to planDisney!

You and your family have so much to celebrate on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort stay! My family has celebrated a few birthdays in the past with Mickey and his friends! There is nothing better than being in your favorite park, with the people you love, celebrating your special day. I'm sure your sister and granddaughter are beyond excited about the potential trip. A special tip to keep in mind is most table service restaurants will offer specialty cakes for birthday celebrations. If you plan to book any Advanced Dining Reservations, I would consider ordering a Mickey Mouse Celebration cake to help celebrate.

Planning a multi-generational vacation with a large family is no easy task. The best advice I can give is to start the process early and communicate often with your group. Based on your question, you are on top of the planning portion! You should be in the stage now of deciding which Disney Resort Collection hotels will work best for your large group.

Disney typically announces vacation packages in the summer for the upcoming year. I would highly expect to hear something in June 2022 to be able to book anytime in the year 2023. This should give you ample time to fully map out your itinerary and be ready to book once available. If getting ahead of payments is a priority, a clever solution is to purchase Disney Gift Cards. By doing so, you are allocating your money to only be used for Disney and when the time comes to make your first payment, you will have more than enough to take a big chunk out of balance.

You do have one additional option when it comes to booking. Disney allows room-only bookings up to 499 days in advance. Starting at the end of this week, you should be able to at the very least reserve your hotel rooms. To do so, you will need to call the Walt Disney World Resort and speak to a Cast Member for assistance. This type of reservation is only available to reserve on the phone. Once the vacation packages are released, you will then need to call back to modify your existing reservation. This helps some Guests out knowing for sure that they have room accommodations secured.

Tricia, I hope your large family trip is everything you can imagine. I know with the proper planning, you are going to have a magical time!

    Happy planning!
