When should I start my planning for a Christmas trip?

    Hi Regina!

It's always great to see a fellow Marylander here at planDisney as you start planning your visit to Walt Disney World Resort.  There is nothing quite as wonderful as celebrating the most magical time of the year at The Most Magical Place on Earth!  Now is the perfect time to start planning your holiday visit, so let's dive right in!

Regina, if you haven't already, I usually start by choosing my Disney Resort hotel.  With more than two dozen hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection, there are so many great options.  At the holidays, I particularly love the cozy vibes of Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Another great choice is Disney's Pop Century Resort - where you'll be just a short ride away from holiday magic at Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT thanks to the Disney Skyliner!

After you've selected your resort hotel, you can add theme park tickets to your reservation to create a vacation package.  When selecting theme park tickets, you can choose to add the Park Hopper Option if you'd like to visit more than one park per day.  With a vacation package, you can also add a dining plan, and you'll be able to access Magical Extras in addition to the benefits that all Guests staying in a Disney Resort hotel can enjoy!

planDisney Pro Tip - This is a great year to consider adding the dining plan to a vacation package if you're traveling with little ones!  Through the end of 2026, kids (ages 3 to 9) get a free dining plan when the adults on the reservation purchase plans for themselves.

Once you have made your reservation, it's time to jump into all the holly jolly details of a holiday visit.  The Disney Parks Blog offers a great overview of the celebrations happening throughout the parks and resorts this year.  If either Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party or Disney Jollywood Nights are on your must-do list, you'll find separate special event tickets currently on sale.  We also really enjoy the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which is included with your regular theme park admission.  During your time at EPCOT, you won't want to miss Living with the Land - Glimmering Greenhouses and the Candlelight Processional!

I ho-ho-hope this information has been helpful, Regina!  If you have any other questions or would like additional recommendations, stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!

    Cheers!
    Kristi
