How do I start to plan a trip to Disney World using my Disney Vacation points?

    Hey Howdy Hey, Cheryl!

You are as welcome as can be here at planDisney!  Oh boy, how exciting that you are beginning to plan the vacation of your dreams.  Cheryl, you are going to love being a Disney Vacation Club Member. Not only will you enjoy the home away from home amenities of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, such as kitchens, kitchenettes, living spaces, and laundry access, but you will be transported to whole new worlds as each Disney Vacation Club Resort has its own unique theme.

Cheryl, first, you will want to visit the Disney Vacation Club website and log into your account.  From My Dashboard, you can see how many Vacation Points you have available in your current Use Year.  It's important to know when your Use Year begins and by when you need to bank any unused Vacation Points so you don't lose them.  But to book your dream vacation, you can book your Home Resort - this is the Resort in which you purchased your Vacation Ownership Interest - beginning 11 months in advance of your desired check-in date. If you want to book at any other Disney Vacation Club Resort that is not your Home Resort, you can do that beginning 7 months in advance of your desired check-in date.

There is a search bar at the top and if you are in that 7-month booking window, you can do a search for availability. If you are outside that window, then you can only book at your Home Resort. So, for example, my Home Resort is Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. I would go to My Dashboard and where it says "Plan My Vacation," I would put in my desired dates. I scroll to my Home Resort and look at the available room types and the Vacation Points costs. If it's available, you can book it right there. Rather than putting in payment, you are paying with your Vacation Points - assuming you have the allotted amount to book that Resort.

Now, once your booking is confirmed online, you will have a Resort reservation number. You can add that to your My Disney Experience account so it is linked.  Then, you would go to the Walt Disney World website and book your theme park tickets as any Guest would.  Disney Vacation Club Members do not receive discounts on theme park tickets, but if eligible, we do receive other Member Extras and benefits.

Once you are 60 days from your check-in date, you can book your Disney Dining Reservations and any Enchanting Extras Reservations for the entirety of your stay.  When it's time for your vacation, you just check in to your Disney Vacation Club Resort like you would at any Disney Resort Hotel and get ready for a magical vacation of your dreams!

If you have any further questions regarding booking your Disney Vacation Club Resort, you can give Member Services a call and they'll be glad to assist you. Have fun making magical memories!
