We will start our Disney World experience mid-day on Sunday. We are staying at the Polynesian. Is this a good night for the Luau or another table-service-dinning event? Basically, any half-day ideas and recommendations on ending the 1st evening? Thx.

    Hi, Cathryn!

I think enjoying the Spirit of Aloha show on your first night is a perfect plan!  This will give you a great chance to settle into your resort, do some exploring, then enjoy a nice meal...all without leaving your beautiful Polynesian Resort.  We always spend so much time choosing the best resort, then leave it!  Just plan to have a relaxing time right at your tropical paradise.  (Make sure you make your Advance Dining Reservations for the luau!)  If the luau does not work out, try Kona or 'Ohana, great restaurant options at the Polynesian!

If you go to the early luau, you might be able to catch the Electric Water Pageant that sails by the beach on Seven Seas Lagoon.  Check what time Wishes (fireworks at Magic Kingdom) are scheduled as you can get a great view of these from the beach.

You might want to take a stroll along the path that leads to the neighboring Grand Floridian.  It is always fun to explore what is going on "next door!"  They have a beautiful lobby and some fun shops you might want to check out.

Have a relaxing night, because the next morning kicks off your first full day of magic as you explore all the parks and all that Walt Disney World has to offer.  Have a great vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
