Does split stays affect ability to book advance dining reservations, meaning is the 60 day window based on the trip or the hotel reservation? At 60 days out from our trip can we book dining for the second half of the trip?

Welcome back to planDisney, Patty! Thank you for reaching out with your question. How fun that you’re planning a split stay at Walt Disney World Resort! I’d be happy to help you understand how advance dining reservations work for multiple hotel stays so you can make the most of your dining experiences and enjoy every magical moment of your trip.

Advance dining reservations (ADRs) are tied to your Disney hotel reservations rather than the trip as a whole. The 60 day booking window is based on your check-in date at each Disney resort. This means that if you have a split stay, where you stay at two different resorts during the same trip, each hotel reservation has its own separate 60 day window.

For the first hotel, the 60 day window opens 60 days prior to that resort’s check-in date, and you can make dining reservations for the entire length of that stay. For the second hotel, the 60 day window opens 60 days prior to its check-in date, and you can make reservations for that portion of your trip. The window for the first hotel does not let you make dining reservations for the dates of your second hotel stay.

This is done because the 60 day booking window plus the length of stay is a perk for guests staying on property, giving them priority access to dining. So, if you’re planning a split stay, it’s important to note that you may have to plan your dining reservations in two stages. First for the initial resort, and then for the second resort when its window opens. This can affect popular dining experiences, especially if you’re trying to book highly sought after restaurants, so many guests set reminders for the second 60 day window to make sure they don’t miss out.

Patty, I hope this explanation helps you feel prepared to plan your dining for your split stay. With your reservations lined up at the right time, you and your family can enjoy all the delicious meals and magical experiences without any stress. Thank you for visiting planDisney with your question, and I wish you a truly unforgettable vacation filled with joy, laughter, and countless magical memories!
