Do split bathrooms on the cruise ships have outlets to use a hairdryer?

    Ahoy Sue!

So glad you swam over to planDisney to chat about Disney Cruise Line!

When cruising, there are always lots of dinglehoppers necessary to use onboard, like a hair dryer. I've done several cruises with my girlfriends and believe me, we had the gamut of styling products. It reminded me of the scene in The Little Mermaid when all Ariel’s sisters were getting ready at the same time!

Believe me, split bathrooms are revolutionary in the cruise industry and set Disney Cruise Line apart from its competitors. It’s so cool that Disney Cruise Line offers split bathrooms so that someone can be using the toilet or sink area while another Guest is taking a shower. I must say, this setup is vital for families with teens and young adults like mine!

So as far as the outlet situation in the bathrooms, there are actually no outlets you could use a hairdryer. The shower section has an outlet made for shavers on the ceiling, but the idea is not to have electrical appliances in the bathroom near water. Instead, there are multiple outlets around the desk in your stateroom, conveniently in front of the mirror. This is really nice because you can also choose to sit down there while drying your hair.

As far as hair dryers and voltage, the Disney Cruise Line fleet has multiple electrical outlets at 110V (US/Canada), and the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are equipped with a combination of 110V and 220V outlets (European).  (With that voltage, even Flotsam and Jetsam would be jealous!) For this reason, I suggest that you leave your hair dryer at home because each stateroom is equipped with one already, and that means one less item you have to pack.

Since we're talking about gadgets and gizmos aplenty, I recommend this list of packing tips as a helpful guide to what is needed and what can be left at home. Also, make sure you download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app prior to boarding. This handy dandy app provides up-to-date listings of the activities and entertainment onboard. You could say it’s like having a pal like Flounder there beside you, telling you all that is being offered daily.

I wish planDisney had a SHELL phone you could call us on for more questions! We are always willing to chat about Disney Cruise Line...even if it means we do that by sending messages to each other on the internet. It makes us feel like a “part of your world” as you get closer to your Disney cruise!

    Bon voyage!
