Hi. We are spending Thanksgiving at The Fort. What's the best way to catch a reservation at 'Ohana or Chef Mickeys? Is there a particular time of day that is best to try? I missed these on our 180th day reservations. Would closer to time be best?

    Hi Susan!

Getting reservations for some of the toughest and most popular dining spots at Walt Disney World can be a mix of good planning and luck! If you have missed your opportunity there is still a small chance to nab one but again it will take some work and luck. 'Ohana and Chef Mickey are two sought after dining spots and the only way to hope for a reservation is to keep checking daily. I like to check early in the morning but others have also found the occasional openings pop up at all times of the day. You will literally have to be on to grab it but it is worth it to keep trying.

Often around a month out things open up and it wouldn't hurt to keep trying once you arrive. Last minute cancelations will happen and although Disney tries to prevent guests from double booking some have found a way and they will release the reservation they are not going to need. Another idea is to try for smaller reservations and split the family up. If you are a family of four you might be able to get two tables of two. Once you arrive they can often join the reservations together.

So it isn't impossible but I also don't want to get your hopes up too high as getting one of these reservations especially at a holiday time can be very difficult. In the meantime please try to book something else. I know that Trials End has a wonderful Thanksgiving buffet if that is the day you are hoping for.

Wishing you luck and lots of pixie dust to come your way for dining!
