Hey there, Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by the panel with your question! You sure chose an awesome way to bring in the New Year: with a Walt Disney World Vacation! I hope it sets the tone for a year full of many more amazing experiences for your crew!
In years past
EPCOT has thrown a massive celebration for New Year’s Eve, complete with DJ dance parties throughout the World Showcase and even more surprises once the clock strikes midnight. I imagine that this year will be just as special! Because of this and the other amazing offerings across the resort, certain Theme Parks can reach capacity quickly on holidays. While this is very uncommon, New Year’s Eve is one of the times when this is more likely to happen. Generally speaking, your
Park Pass reservation reserves you a spot in the Theme Parks. But depending on the closure level of the Theme Park when you arrive, you may not be permitted to enter despite your Park Pass Reservation. The bad news is that there is no specific time that park closures happen. It all depends on capacity! The good news is that EPCOT absorbs crowds better than the other Theme Parks and has more space to spread out. There is always a risk that you will not be able to enter a Theme Park, but at EPCOT closures are less likely than if you were to be visiting
Magic Kingdom Park.
PG Pro tip: EPCOT will stay open for at least an hour after the last firework show of the evening, so take your time exiting the park. While everyone else joins the huge masses all exiting at the same time, you can take that time to let the crowds die down and enjoy an emptying Theme Park!
I’m sure you are going to have an amazing time celebrating the New Year at Walt Disney World, Jennifer! If you have more questions while planning your Disney Vacation,
please stop back by and let me know!
