We are spending a few days in London before our cruise to Norway from Southampton. Do we need both ETA and ETIAS?

Ahoy, Robert, and welcome back to planDisney!

What an incredible sailing you have planned for this summer on the Disney Dream! I was fortunate to sail to Norway last summer and can't wait to get back to explore more of this breathtakingly beautiful country. I am still in awe of the pictures I captured from cruising through the fjords to the unique architecture in the areas we visited. Everything was just spectacular. I can't wait for you to experience it all in late July and early August!

I'm glad to hear you'll be adding on a few days in London before heading out to Southampton. It's the perfect way to start your European adventure and adjust to the time difference before boarding the ship. Last summer, I applied for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) a couple of months before my cruise, and it was approved almost immediately. I took a screenshot of it on my phone and saved it to my "Important Cruise Photos" album. The only time I needed it was when completing my online check-in for the cruise, but I had it at my fingertips at the airport and port if needed. It looks like the ETIAS will not be required for travel until late 2026, as a start date has not been announced yet. With your cruise embarking in late July, it looks like the ETA will be the only requirement. Once the ETIAS becomes mandatory, Disney Cruise Line will have information listed on the Passports, Visas, and Citizenship Documentation page about how to apply for approval.

Robert, I know how much you are looking forward to seeing the stunning coastlines and lush and vibrant mountain backdrops in gorgeous shades of green in Norway. As you plan what to pack, I recommend comfortable, breathable layers with the outer layer being waterproof. We experienced rain, but having the right attire really made the difference. I also had waterproof shoes that kept my feet dry and comfortable ashore. I was so thankful not to have to worry about soggy shoes!

Thank you again for visiting planDisney, Robert. We are always so happy to hear from fellow cruisers about their future vacation plans. Please let us know if you think of anything else before your Norwegian Fjords Cruise on the Disney Dream.
