We're spending a day at Epcot 2/27, the Princess 1/2 marathon day. We can get in 30 minutes early. Where should we park? How early should we arrive since we are dealing with the runners? Any road closures between the Doubletree Disney Spring to Epcot?

Hi Jill! Welcome back to planDisney.

Oh Boy! Tomorrow you are arriving at EPCOT during The World’s Most Magical Celebration! Indulged in a specialty-themed treat found here in the 50th Anniversary Celebration Sips and Bites Guide. In The Land Pavillion, stop by Sunshine Seasons to find the Lemon Chiffon or the Mini Chocolate Bundt Cake desserts. And conveniently afterward, go Soarin’ Around the World or board a boat for a fun and educational water journey at Living with the Land.

Nice choice in staying at a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor® Hotel. You will have access to those precious Early Theme Park Entry 30 minutes to the theme parks. And yes, on Sunday morning there will be running tutus aplenty in the Disney Princess Half Marathon. Travel times can be greatly impacted due to road closures beginning at 4:30 AM. I highly suggest an early rise for you as the half marathon begins and ends in the EPCOT parking lots. While in EPCOT, you may even catch those running princesses blazing through the park. Be sure to encourage those as they finish up 13.1 Magical Miles. By midday, all runDisney related events will be wrapped up inside the park.

I hope you stay late into the evening at EPCOT for two of my absolute favorite nighttime shows. First, when the sun goes down, Spaceship Earth will come to shimmering EARidescent life during Beacons of Magic. And finish your day enjoying Harmonious encompassing water, music, and fireworks entertainment.

    Keeping it Magical,
    Cindy
