We will be spending a day @ DisneyWorld the day before our cruise. How does the transportation work from a Disney resort to the port? We are asked to select a board time as part of the pre-boarding information, but I do not know how often the buses run?

    Ahoy there, Laurie!

Welcome to the Moms Panel and thank you very much for cruising in with your question. You've got an awesome vacation plan so far -- a magical pre-cruise day at Disney World, followed by even more magic on the Disney Cruise Line the following day! Wow - your buccaneers are going to have loads of unforgettable fun on this trip for sure.

The most convenient way of getting from the Disney Resorts to Port Canaveral is to add-on the Disney Cruise Ground Transportation to your reservation. It is the most convenient way of traveling, and it's a great segway to take you from the land portion of your trip - over to your adventure on the high seas with Captain Mickey. There is an additional cost of $35/person each way. You will need to contact your travel agent or you can call the Disney Cruise Travel Desk directly at 1-800-951-3532. Since you are staying at a Disney Resort, you will be getting a reminder the night before, to reconfirm your pickup time outside your hotel lobby. You'll need to use the special DCL Tags on your luggage, since the driver will also be your bag handler. Since your bags are already tagged, they will go from the motor coach and straight to your stateroom later that afternoon. Make sure you have a day bag with you - since you may not see your check in luggage until after 2pm on embarkation day. As far as boarding time, you can choose the earliest time available in your online check-in process. There will be a few pickup buses that morning at the resorts to take DCL guests to the port. So, make sure you add your reservation for a confirmed slot. The Disney Cruise busses will be clearly marked at the pickup points, so you don't accidentally get on the Magical Express that brings you to the airport instead. :-)

You can look forward to having lunch onboard that day! The DCL Ground Transportation is also available after the cruise to either take you back to the Disney Resorts, of if you'd like a ride to the airport.
