Is there a specific distance you need to run to be considered a legacy runner for an event? I read that you have to run at least the half marathon and that running the 5k every year since the race inception would not qualify you.

    Welcome to planDisney, Krystal!

We’re so glad to hear from you at planDisney!

There’s nothing quite as special as taking part in a runDisney event! There is so much to look forward to, and it is lovely to be a little part of the massive magical running community at Walt Disney World Resort!

To be honored as a “legacy” runner, you will need to have registered and completed a marathon or half marathon event since its inaugural run. They typically award these runners during the event’s 5th consecutive year and usually recognize these runners with gifts, special bibs, celebration, and more! Not every race will have “legacy” runner status, but there are quite a few!

Running a 5k every year since the race’s beginning is an incredible accomplishment! That is truly amazing, and something to be very proud of! Though, currently, that doesn’t qualify you for “legacy” status, you should keep an eye on the runDisney site and the Disney Parks Blog, as you never know when updates, adjustments, or other recognitions will be made!

Keep moving forward, Krystal! If you have additional questions, we hope you’ll dash over to planDisney again!
