How does the specialty drink work with the DDP? Can you only order drink when at reservation or quick service? Does it replace your soda during your meal or just an extra? It's one credit per day? Couldn't find much info on it. Thanks!

    Hi Brenda,

Thank you for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  It seems like a lot of guests are excited about the addition of specialty and alcoholic beverages to the Disney Dining Plan for 2018.  My family and I visited Walt Disney World Resort a few weeks ago, and tested out the addition, my daughter loved the artisanal milkshakes.

With the Disney Dining Plan, guests 21 years and older are able to enjoy one specialty beverage per meal. It can be anywhere you redeem your Table-Service or Quick-Service credits however you need to be ordering the beverage as part of your meal.  If you choose an alcoholic beverage at a Table Service location, it will be a part of that credit, you will not be charged extra for the beverage.  These beverages include single serving non-alcoholic or alcoholic items such as:
    • Beer or Cider
    • Wine or Sangria
    • Mixed Drinks and Specialty Cocktails
    • Artisanal Milkshakes
    • Fresh Smoothies
    • Premium Hot Chocolate
    • Soda, coffee or Tea
The Dining Plan does not include items such as souvenir items (such as cups and glow cubes).  The beverage will replace your soda, and is non-refillable.  While visiting earlier this year, our friend would order the specialty beverage with her meal and then pay out of pocket for a soda.  Guests are able to order a specialty beverage wherever they are served, at both Table-Service and Quick-Service dining locations.  Please keep in mind that some Dining Locations do not offer alcoholic beverages and if they are not on the menu you will need to chose something else.

I hope you have a magical time at Walt Disney World Resort, Brenda.  Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are always happy to help.
