Do you have any special secrets, spots, or time for taking our 5 year old for her first parade viewing?

Hi Kelley! How exciting that it will be your 5 year-old's first parade! I'm going to assume you're speaking about the Magic Kingdom since that is the park most known for its parades. Since we are Florida residents, one thing my family has had the luxury of doing is trying new spots pretty much every time we watch a parade. It's amazing how different the experience can be even if you've seen the parade many times.

One of the best places to be able to see the entire parade is from the 2nd story of the Main Street Station of the Walt Disney World Railroad. You will need to arrive very early to snag a seat on the benches or chairs there, (this is definitely not a secret spot!) but the unobstructed views will be worth it.

A lesser-known spot that is one of my family's favorites (I should probably keep it to myself, but I'll share it with you!) is right near the Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square, right by the Heritage House shop. This is where we love to stand during the special holiday parades especially. You have a great view of all the floats, dancers and characters coming by.

Wherever you decide to view her first parade, I'm sure it will be a memorable experience. Make sure to take pictures of her reaction in addition to all the wonderful parade goings-on! It is advised to secure your spot for a parade at least 20 minutes before it starts. If you want to be sure you are up front with no one in front of you, I'd go even earlier (or send a member of your party to hold your spot) just to be safe. Of course the best part about being 5 is there's usually someone's shoulders you can sit on to make sure you see it all!

If you would like information about the other Walt Disney World parks' parades, be sure to come back and ask us again and we'll be happy to share some more of our family's secrets with you. Have a wonderful vacation!
