Hi Allison! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with this great question!
I can't think of a better place to ring in the New Year than at the
Walt Disney World Resort. The Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT are slated to stay open until midnight on this day. I would fully expect to see special offerings and experiences at each of these parks to help celebrate this holiday!
While no official announcement has been made, I don't anticipate a special ticket needed to visit any of the four theme parks on New Year's Eve. Typically, in years past, you will only need a valid park ticket and park reservation for entry. With the official park hours stated for midnight, your regular ticket should give you access for the entire day.
I suggest following along with the
Disney Parks Blog for any news or special announcements pertaining to New Year's Eve. According to the
Walt Disney World website, the Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks are slated to begin 10 minutes before midnight at the Magic Kingdom. I'm sure this show is timed perfectly to ring in the New Year. EPCOT usually has a
countdown fireworks display that begins moments before midnight which will hopefully happen again this year. You can usually find special performances taking place in many of the countries in the World Showcase throughout the evening.
Allison, I hope this information helps you plan for your upcoming visit!
