Hi there! I have a special needs daughter (autistic) that will only eat certain foods. Is it ok if I took prepackaged microwaveable non perishable foods on board the Disney Wonder, and would there be a way of heating them up at mealtimes?

    Hi Tina!

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for asking this important question. I understand how much planning is needed in order to vacation with a cruiser who has special needs. I'm so elated that you're planning a voyage aboard the Disney Wonder with your family! I am happy to answer your questions regarding bringing along prepackaged foods for your Pirate Princess to enjoy.

The good news is that Disney Cruise Line absolutely allows Guests to bring food that is sealed and prepackaged in the manufacturer's original packaging onboard the ship with them. The not-so-great news is that there are no microwaves available to Guests while onboard and no outside food is allowed into any of the kitchens. There are a couple options available that might work if your daughter's food needs to be reheated. First, the Disney Cruise Line offers complimentary bottle warmers to be used throughout your cruise. Guests have used a bottle warmer to warm up a small package of food. A second option that might work is using hot water. Hot water is available 24/7 and has also been used to heat up small, prepackaged meals.

I spoke with a Cast Member from Disney Cruise Line's Special Services Team and she said with 60-days advanced notice, they could possibly order a limited number of specialized foods for your daughter at no additional cost to your family! The food would need to be available through their vendors and if so, they would have it onboard for the Chef to prepare for your Pirate Princess in the main dining restaurants during dinner! If you want to give this idea a try, fill out the Special Services Information Form and then call Special Services at (407) 566-3602 once the form has been submitted.

I hope I was able to share some ideas that might work in order for your daughter to enjoy meals throughout the cruise!
