Hi Christine! Welcome back to planDisney.
Like you, I am eagerly awaiting the opening of
Space 220 in EPCOT's Mission: SPACE pavilion. Being able to dine 220 feet above Earth, with gorgeous views of the stars and a delicious menu to enjoy sounds truly...out of this world.
At this time, we don't have any news about an opening date for Space 220. As part of the
phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, many projects have been placed on pause, and this is one of them. My advice is to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest news and updates and be sure to follow them on your favorite social media channel so you don't miss a thing. (Side note: your friendly planDisney Panelists are also on social media, and we're sharing our tips as well as reports from inside the Walt Disney World Resort!)
One of my very favorite touches in the works for Space 220 is the
grow zone, which is a produce wall that replicates Earth's gravity and allows the restaurant's chefs to keep fresh ingredients on hand for their recipes. The combination of technology and theming is a throwback to classic
EPCOT. It also connects the
Mission: SPACE pavilion with the Land pavilion, where Guests can learn about innovative farming and gardening techniques in the
Living with the Land attraction, and try menu items prepared in those greenhouses at dining locations throughout EPCOT.
Christine, have a fantastic time on your
summer vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Cheers to finding some delicious new things to sample throughout your vacation - be sure to visit the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which opens July 15, 2021, and is sure to offer some tasty new bites and drinks to satisfy your cravings. As you dream about your Disney days, please come back and see us if you think of any further questions.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
